Muslim apologists will claim that Islam respects ALL religions and that the Koran confirms the validity of especially Judaism and Christianity, that the three share the same God. However, this is not entirely true, because the Koran also claims the holy books of Judaism and Christianity as having been ‘corrupted.’ The sharia, thus, has clearly stipulated how Islam views Judaism and Christianity. Note that it is specifically mentioned that English-speaking Muslims are occasionally exposed to erroneous theories advanced by teachers affirming the validity of Christianity or Judaism, but denying or not mentioning their abrogation. In other words, Islam abrogated/invalidated Judaism and Christianity, now considered ‘remnant cults bearing the name of formerly valid religions such as ”Christianity” or ”Judaism.”’ Note also that ‘this is a matter over which there is NO disagreement amongst scholars.’
And so it was and it continues to be practised in Muslim majority countries where the sharia takes precedence over secular law. For example: the Administrative court of Egypt in the case of the Muslim apostate, Mohammed Hegazy, explained its ruling on Hegazy’s case in February 2007 by saying that it’s prohibited “to switch from the superior religion, Islam, to the inferior one, Christianity.”
